La Historia

Miguel Angel Garza grew up listening in awe to his uncle play most pieces by ear on the guitar, inspiring him to listen to classical and jazz guitar, and introducing him to the likes of Segovia, Paco de Lucía, Joe Pass, and Jim Hall.

Garza’s understanding of music developed over the years by listening to and conversing with some of San Antonio’s own greats, as well, including Dow Daggett, Polly Harrison, Cecil Carter, Rene Saenz, and the legendary Esteban Jordan.

Garza has, essentially, culled his craft and skill by listening, observing, practicing, and performing for over a decade.

Versatility is one of his greatest strengths, as he performs not only in intimate restaurant settings but for larger corporate events, conventions, private parties, weddings (ceremonial and reception), country clubs, and gallery shows, as well as solo or with a group of musicians, incorporating styles that include classical, jazz, Spanish, and flamenco influence.
